Episode #49 of The Fully Engaged Life. This is a hardhitting episode exposing the indisputable connection between competition - basically competitive sports - and the strengthening of the ego. While much of society has been brainwashed into treating sports as a religion, Robert contends that it really serves only two functions. The first is that of a distraction, and the second is to strengthen the ego. Because the masses have trouble understanding this, largely due to the fact that egoic minds need to reject such truths, Robert teaches you how to look at your (self) motivation to recognize if your actions and desire for sports comes from ego or essence (spirit). Remember the ego and essence do not coexist. Nothing touches off the egoic mind more than threatening the egos love for competition. Competition is only a natural part of the unawakened mind; the awakened lose all desire for such things. Learn how and why sports are not, and cannot, lead to spiritual expansion, even though the ego will scream to the contrary. Through mental observations, you can see the truth for yourself.
